In some IEPs, it states that the student needs prompting to answer questions. The students often repeat the last word contained in the question. 

 

Also, some students need prompting to use the bathroom. Students often will not tell staff when he or she needs to use the restroom, and he may have accidents without prompting throughout the day. Some students need staff supervision when walking around the campus. 

 

Some students rarely follow verbal directions without additional help. They often seem to understand what people are saying, but they need repetition of directions to follow, and they tend to have difficulty listening in group situations. They also do not complete assignments without additional instruction. Teachers often report that students will read only with verbal prompts. They only sometimes answer questions in a timely manner. 

 

Some students only sometimes use spoken language for a variety of purposes, but rarely use a variety of words when talking. Some students only sometimes stays on topic when talking. They rarely uses age appropriate vocabulary, age appropriate topics, complete sentences, and an appropriate amount of information when speaking. These students have trouble being understood because of speech sound errors, and they often omit parts of words. They can become distracted and off-task, and they need to be redirected.
